Sembro
2006 (750ml)
eParker score: 90 points (# 183 June 2009)
"The 2006 Sembro is 100% Tempranillo aged in French and American
oak for four months. Purple-colored, it has a super-fragrant bouquet
of cedar, forest floor, wild cherry, and blackberry. This is followed
by a full-flavored, mouth-filling, easy-going wine with tons of savory
fruit and no hard edges. Drink this pleasure-bent effort over the next
four years.
Sembro
2007 (750ml)
The winemaker has captured the liveliest, fresh and true varietal character
of the Tempranillo variety from two of their Pagos (Pagos del Jaro y
Pago de la Piedra) within the property of Bodegas Jaro in Ribera del
Duero. It is a wine with high aromatic intensity with reminiscent notes
of wild forest berries that blend beautifully with the faint touch of
oak; the wine was aged for 7 months in both French and American oak
barrels. The introduction of 7% Merlot to the blend adds a nice core
and weight to the wine leaving you with rich flavors of black fruits
together with a good structure that is classic of the great wines from
the area of Pesquera del Duero.

eParker score: 90 points (# 183 June 2009)
"The 100% Tempranillo 2005 Jaros Crianza was aged in one third
new French and American oak for 14 months. Its expressive nose gives
up aromas of smoke, mineral, leather, and black cherry. Elegant on the
palate, it has outstanding concentration, loads of savory fruit, and
enough structure to permit 5-7 years of further evolution. Drink this
lengthy effort from 2014 to 2025.

"This wine gets it right. The color is dark and opaque, while the
nose offers perfume, Middle Eastern spice, fruitcake and solid black
fruit. Enticing in the mouth, where full black fruit flavors are pumped
up by fine herb and spice notes. And then coffee and chocolate fill
the finish. Drink now through 2010.

"Robust and rich in style, with big aromas of bacon, violets, wild
herb, shoe polish and more. The palate is exuberant and generous, while
the flavors of toasty black fruits, earth and mocha are nicely presented.
Shows a little heat and roughness, but that will settle with bottle
age.
