The craft of winemaking has been a
tradition in the Serantes family for more than 100 years. But it was
not until 1988 with the foundation of the D.O. Rias Baixas, that the
winery turned into today’s family business.
With the integration of new technologies to the traditional methods,
they have improved in the process making their wines, achieving excellence
in quality. With the inauguration in 2003 of their new improved facilities,
they now feel ready to face the challenges that lay ahead.
They have decided to increase their production at a gradual pace; much
of this decision has been due to the new technological systems that
they acquired allowing them to manage large volume of grapes while at
the same time maintaining their already high quality standards. Additionally,
in thee last two years they have decreased the yields per hectare which
dramatically influences the quality of their wine while retain their
exclusive character of Albarino.
